I’m definitely not kidding, but we were on an adventure to find a camping ground, and it was ALL BOOKED. We’ve been camping without a reservation for 3 years and I guess our luck ran out, but there was unbearable traffic and ridiculous amounts of people out and about. Is it because we’ve had warmer weather than previous years? Who knows?
Very exciting but scary about the camping site is that when we went out there to fish about 1.5 years ago, there were barley ANY trees or vegetation out there, but when we went this time, there were trees taller than us in less than 1.5 years. Forks did get 10 feet of rain this year, so I guess that’s not surprising, but it was surreal to see in real life.
Hoh Rainforest Secret Camping/Fishing Spot near Cottonwood Camp Overall Rating – 🐟🐟 (4/5)
Location – ABSOLUTE 5 because the view is incredibleRoughing it? – most definitely – there are no bathrooms so you will… just have to dig a hole! But if you can wait, you can go in the morning to a bathroom at a near by campground if you are desperate.Remote? – SUPER, there was one more camp site other than us, but they were on the other sideWildlife? – YES, there were. We even heard something near by our tent in the middle of the night. We had our car remote near so if it was something bigger, than we could just ring the alarm and they would just be scared and go away. Fishing? – No bueno. The water in the Hoh River is rapid in many parts and you have to find the right pockets to fish in. There are fisherman tales of rainbow trout but usually you can fish salmon season. It’s glacier water so you can’t keep what you catch, so make sure to pinch those wires!
