Body Positive Summer Style

This week, I’m partnering with SheIn to bring you some body positive Summer style! I’m excited to show you three looks, one of which is a swimsuit that fits like a glove and can be worn many different ways.

To be honest, Summer style has always been a little intimidating for me because of being “large.” Though I’ve now really embraced my size and style, it hasn’t always been that way. I’ve always loved clothes but I feel like the fashion industry is not always inclusive to sizes Large and XL (and of course anything bigger, the fashion industry shuts their eyes). Despite the slow progress, progress has been made in the recent years and I think a lot has changed. More people (and even fashion brands) are embracing curvy styles and remembering that “healthy” isn’t a size.

Unfortunately, not all are “embracing the thic” there are two brands that I unfollowed because of how they treat plus sized woman. They have only portrayed skinny bodies and have not been inclusive in their campaigns despite repeated comments from their followers and even their own commitment to be more inclusive. To me, voting with my likes and follows is as important as voting with my wallet, especially in this Instagram/social economy. If a brand is constantly pushing that body type that makes you feel ashamed and anxious about your body, portrays “healthy bodies” as people that weigh 100 pounds at 5’11 and the brand isn’t wiling to do the work to find models with their thousands of dollar campaign budget, I will unfollow. My mental health is worth more than that.

I’m all about embracing that Summer body, which also means, I’m all about wearing what’s flattering on me. Ruffled tops always help my body look a little more symmetrical and helps me move about the day without being uncomfortable. Even this red bathing suit is super comfy because it is basically a giant bandeau top that you can wear however you want. You can fit it to your own body.

Lastly, cheetah print pants are practical and easy to wear with any color crop top for almost any occasion (in my opinion). You can wear it out with a simple crop top or wear a bathing suit top (like me, heh)! Also, if you wear a blazer, this definitely could be a work outfit.

All of these outfits are linked but you can also get extra 15% OFF any purchase for the whole site! Code expires on June 30th!
