One of my favorite things to do is to go camping and fishing. In fact, I usually go camping to go fishing. Every year, we go down to Forks, WA at some point in the year to go fishing for salmon. In the months of January – April, steelhead fishing is on the rise, so we thought we would book a trip with a guide to catch them!
We booked a guide through the Gig Harbor Fly Shop and this was our guide. Brian fly fished while I threw in the spinner. I think fly fishing works best with the steelhead (from my experience). He was getting a lot more bites than I was and he reeled in the first fish. In my next blog post, I’ll write all about my experience & some pro tips on what to pack on a fishing trip!
We stayed at the Misty Valley Inn and it was amazing! I didn’t know what to expect because I’ve never stayed at bed and breakfast! There was SO MUCH FOOD every morning, snacks, and the lady at the Inn is just the sweetest. She even gave us scones to take with us on the road when we left.
This year, we did a little more than fishing. Did you know that Hoh Rainforest was where the Return of the Jedi was filmed in the 70s? For some reason, people forgot about that but remember it by Twilight (ugh, come on!) (There’s a whole internet dispute on this, but I won’t get into it) So we ventured into the forest where Battle of Endor was filmed. Definitely, worth going and I would highly recommend it if you ever visit Forks, WA.
Forks is one of my favorite place in the world (so far). I love being hugged by all the trees and moss wherever I go! I’ll be releasing some vlogs in the next couple of days on my YT channel, so watch out for those and don’t forget to subscribe! In the meanwhile check out my first vlog from my weekend getaway below!
