I’ve asked my friend (a non-blogger) to write down the top three skincare products that she uses. Why did I pick her to guest write this week? She (Melissa) single handedly buys the most skincare that I’ve ever seen, just to “try” it. She constantly shares her wealth of knowledge on this subject, so I told her to share with you all! Here is her take on skincare favorites for transitional weather:

Hi! Before I start talking about skincare favorites for transitional weather, I feel like I need to give you a little background on me and Crystal’s relationship.

I’ve known Crystal since elementary school.  I was in the 6th grade and she was in the 4th.  Although we were young and didn’t develop a friendship til later, I can definitely say that our friendship is one that I cherish and one that has gone through ups and downs, and downs in the sense where we lost touch and ups in the sense that we’re closer than we were.  Honestly, that makes me happy.  Our worlds are so different, yet we connect on a cultural level and being Libras that are similar yet complete opposite ends of the spectrum, I can say that I cherish our friendship and am happy that we’re at this place now.

So when I say our worlds are different, we have very different careers and yet even with my career, my infatuation with what she does is something I wish I could be more involved in.  I guess with my day to day, it’s hard for me to set time aside and dedicate what’s required to making posts, videos, etc.  But as she says, she’s never met someone with such an “obsession” with makeup and skincare but yet so far removed from it.  After talking with her for some time, we figured the happy medium would be to meet in the middle and I do an occasional blog here and there.  I mean it’s 2020, and I guess if this is a step in to the unknown that I somewhat admire from the sidelines… welp, here goes nothing.  So with that, let’s start.

I love skincare and makeup.  I’ve tried a lot of things and when it comes to all things beauty, these are skincare products that work for me and while they are splurges, they’re definitely worth it.  I understand that not everyone has the same budget for skincare, but I guess in my mind, this is a long term investment.  And honestly, it’s worth it to me to spend the big bucks on skincare, rather than suffer through trial and error on lower end items (especially it’s YO FACE). Also, don’t be afraid to ask for samples.  Skincare is not a “one size fits all,” so before you splurge, def try them out!  In addition, sometimes your skin will go through a “purge” phase, so keep that in mind when switching skincare product.

These items below are my go to and are great for transitional weather. My skin is kind-of-a-combo and can be dry in the winter while oily in the summer, I mostly switch up the moisturizer but I’ve found these products to be my “holy grails” of skincare. So without further ado, here are my top three skincare products:

SKII Facial Treatment Essence
This is a popular and well known product and can be pretty pricey.  It’s key ingredient is PITERA™ and apparently it’s a bio-ingredient derived from yeast fermentation that resembles your skin’s natural moisturizing factors.  Apparently a bunch of sake brewers in Japan were aging but they noticed their hands were youthful, so a bunch of science later, they found the yeast strain to incorporate in to skincare.  How awesome is that?  Costco sells a 330ml bottle for around $250 which is a steal!  I am on my first bottle and it’s been almost 4 months and I haven’t even gotten to half of it.  I don’t use a cotton pad to apply, i just put a few pumps in to my palms and splash/pat it in to my face.  You’ll notice a difference in tone, your skin will seem more radiant and your pores will start to shrink, your skin will feel more bouncy and hydrated.  Oh and at the end, I also rub the back of my ends because what else should you do with leftover product?!

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum
This is another popular product and I’ve been using this since my mid to late 20s and I can honestly say, I attribute this as one of the reasons my skin looks so good.  It’s one of those things that once you use it, you get why it’s so popular.  It’s light and sinks in to your skin and doesn’t sit heavy.  It helps with fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, dullness and uneven texture.  If you use this for a month, you’ll definitely notice a difference in your skin.  You’ll notice a difference in brightness overnight.  I know it says it’s a night repair serum, but I’ve used it in the mornings as well when my skin is feeling a little drier than normal.  Also, the scent is pleasant and if your skin take a while to absorb it, I’d recommend using a facial roller to help the process!

Chantecaille Rose de Mai Cream
Ok so I know spending $200 on a face cream seems a little much but let me tell you… this stuff.  This brand.  AMAZING.  I was first introduced to Chantecaille a few years ago and I have stayed loyal to it since.  Their products TRULY make a HUGE difference in your skin and the fact that it’s all natural with plant stem cell extracts which helps neutralize accumulated photodamage and soothes the skin.  Rose de Mai is one of the rarest roses in the world, so the fact that this cream has the essence extracted makes it smell lovely!   Some other natural ingredients are wild pansy extract for hydration and helps with fine lines and wrinkles.  Raspberry stem cell extracts to help with redness and oxidative damage… it essentially soothes and hyrdates your dry skin.  This cream is lightweight and is 85% all natural and has a rosewater base… which explains the extremely lightweight texture.  A little goes a long way… and you can use it day or night.  It even helps with pimples, just put a little extra on a pesky little pimple trying to make an appearance and you’ll notice a reduction in redness and inflammation nearly overnight.  This is pretty much a flower fruit cocktail in a beautiful elegant glass jar, so it makes me feel happy with what I’m putting on my skin.
