Skincare Saturday: Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

Today on #saltycollective, Melissa is talking about perfect gift ideas for Mother’s Day. Your Mom won’t be disappointed with this list.

Did you get your Mom anything for Mother’s Day? It’s tomorrow! It’s never late for gifts for your Mom, right?

Welcome back to Skincare Saturday! Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and I figured it’d be great to give some recommendations on gifts to celebrate this awesome holiday where we get to recognize mothers, mother figures, mothers to be, et al in our lives.  What better way to show your appreciation by giving a Mother’s Day beauty gift to those you want to show some love on this Mother’s Day.  If you’ve been keeping up with the posts, you’ll see one repeat from my VERY FIRST post and it’s a fave for a reason.  I’ll let you guys guess which one (kidding) I’ll repost my blurb on the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum, but definitely check out my other posts to find new items to check out

I definitely took the feedback and am trying to incorporate more items from different price points but I’ll admit, I’m a boujee betch and enjoy the finer things in life (insert eyeroll from Crystal) Skincare is what works best for you and guess what?  You’re making steps in the right direction and also tapping into some self-care which is awesome!  I also realized that while I love recommending products, I think it would be great to go on different journeys (at least I think that’s the right word) together.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair ($72-$103)

Reference my first post about the night repair serum here.  With that being said, this is definitely a popular item and my mother loves Estee Lauder and has been an Advanced Night Repair advocate for decades!  It’s light and sinks into your skin and helps with fine lines, wrinkles, dryness, dullness and uneven texture.    This is an every day staple for me, morning AND night.  Estee Lauder offers a loyalty program if you choose to decide to purchase directly from them.  If you want to just try it out, definitely look in to the Estee Lauder travel sets that provide a myriad of products that you can try out before you commit to buying the full Advanced Night Repair product.

Nurse Jamie Uplift Massaging Beauty Roller ($69)

I’ll admit that I recently just started using this item and only purchased it because I saw so many celebrities using it on social media and reality television.  Yes, I am a sucker for reality television, and I have no shame!  I’ve been using this every other day when I’ve layered a few serums and just want to massage my face.  I feel as though it allows time for the product to sink in.

Nurse Jamie Sherill is a celebrity skin expert and is the founder of the exclusive Beauty Park Medial Spa in Santa Monica CA.  Nurse Jamie’s business attracts many celebrities and eventually she developed her own line of skincare and devices.  The Nurse Jamie Uplift Massaging Beauty Roller is a beauty tool for the face AND body that features a unique hexagon shape that holds 24 massaging stones that temporarily energize, enhance, revive, and uplift your skin.  It utilizes a unique rhythmic rolling action that replicates techniques that are used in Nurse Jamie’s signature facials that help improve the appearance of skin tone.  I like to start at the base of the neck and work my way up, I read somewhere that working at the base of your neck is best for lymphatic drainage.  When you’re done using this tool, always remember to wipe it off with some rubbing alcohol to keep it sanitized.  It can be used pretty mindlessly, so I recommend using it on a clean face while watching some reality television but always remember to clean it off!

Mount Lai Rose Quartz Facial Spa Set ($52.50)

This facial set is a powerful duo that helps depuff, soothe and lift the skin.  Have you ever gotten a facial?  Like a true facial where they just massage the shit out of your face?  Well, this set is supposed to mimic those movements during a facial to help achieve a radiant glow.  The Mount Lai facial roller and gua sha tool help improve blood circulation, reduce puffiness and inflammation, promote lymphatic drainage, and relive facial and jaw tension.  I’m not sure about the actual benefits of it being rose quartz or jade or whatever other crystal out there, but I definitely believe that it helps drainage and tension, as well as the other concerns listed.  This is definitely a product that you would have to consistently do to see results and feel a difference in the absorption of serums and oils.

However, you have to realize that sometimes just doing little rituals like this just helps you love your skin and yourself a little more.  It’s that self-care that we all talk about.  Just taking some time for yourself and if that means rolling a rose quartz facial roller all over your face to help your oils and serums sink in, then why not? Honestly, that gua sha tool definitely helps with the tension and right around the nose and undereye area.  I know jade was advertised as the more traditional stone that was used, according to beauty experts, but I got the rose quartz because I prefer the color :). Mount Lai offer’s the facial spa set in both rose quartz and jade, so definitely check it out!

Yves Saint Laurent Libre Eau De Parfum ($30-$130)

Who doesn’t love a luxurious perfume that just evokes sensuality, sense of freedom, a way of being, a vision of Dua Lipa walking in the desert in a sexy and powerful sleek black pantsuit?  Have I gotten your attention?

So yes, Dua Lipa is the face of this new Yves Saint Laurent fragrance and apparently it took five years or so to develop?  I think I read that somewhere – don’t quote me on that.  I mean Yves Saint Laurent is pretty luxurious so I wouldn’t put it past them.  This perfume combines the lavender essence from France with the sensuality of Moroccan orange blossom for a unique floral scent that’s complemented by a daring note of musk accord.  It’s a fairly new perfume and is already pretty popular and it just has a sexy bottle that screams sensual but edgy.  Pretty much Yves Saint Laurent choosing Dua Lipa as the face was a perfect fit.  While the scent is fairly new, it still smells like a classic warm floral.

Sen Organics Skin Silk Liquid Concealer and Foundation (on sale for $17.99) USE CODE SALTY20 to get 20% off!

While May is the month of Mother’s Day, it’s also Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Sen Organics is also an Asian Pacific Islander company run by APIA sisters!  I know I’m supposed to cover skincare, but I love all things beauty.  Skincare, makeup, perfume, haircare, etc.  While I’m not necessarily an expert, I know a bomb ass product when I see one.  Sen Organics Liquid Concealer and Foundation is a medium to full coverage foundation that is a clean product and gives off a soft matte finish. This stuff, let me tell you.  Sen Organics knocked it out of the park with this HIGH coverage concealer and liquid foundation that helps blur and brighten your skin.  And guess what else?  This shit also nourishes your skin with organic essential oils and has a lovely vanilla scent.  A little goes a long way, which is amazing because it’s great for everyday use as well as full on makeup lewk days.

Tata Harper Regenerating Exfoliator Cleanser ($42)

I’ve already educated you all on Tata Harper and their amazing farm up in Vermont with their own scientists and product developers.  I mean this brand – Tata Harper, you have my heart.

It’s a boujee ass brand, in beautiful bold green packaging, smells lovely and is all natural.  In celebration of Mother’s Day, the website is offering 25% off with code MOTHERSDAY.  TWENTY FIVE PERCENT you guys, I mean, that’s significant.

This is the time to cop you some Tata Harper beauty products because they’re definitely on the pricier side but WORTH IT.  Alright so back to the product – Tata Harper’s Regenerating Exfoliator Cleanser is one of their top products and if you try it out, you’ll see why.  The Regenerating Exfoliator Cleanser is a natural daily exfoliator that buffs and polishes with BHA and apricot microspheres to reveal your skins beautiful, smooth, radiant self. This is great for dry and combo skin, and honestly, I’d even recommend it for normal skin (although, maybe don’t use it every day).  I personally don’t use this every day, I personally don’t use any exfoliator every day just because it’s too harsh for my skin.  So whenever I feel like my skin can use a pick me up and a good scrub, I use the Tata Harper Regenerating Exfoliator Cleanser and BAM my skin looks brighter, feels softer, moisturized, and clean.  You know what I mean by clean?  Just fresh and ugh the smell – you have to try it to know what I’m talking about.  The Regenerating Exfoliator Cleanser also pairs well with their resurfacing mask and can be layered to give your skin an extra oomph in brightening.

I hope you enjoy my recommendations for Mother’s Day, I look forward to hearing your feedback on any of the products that I recommend and can’t wait to hear what you guys want to know more about! #commentbelow

PS: I had more product photos but it didn’t come through in #facetimephotoshoot so here’s a bunch of me – lol
