I’m back from sunny California and brought some with me to Seattle – so, you’re welcome. Obviously, I stepped up my game in California and dressed to impress, especially because it’s my first time running around California. You saw us travel the roads of OC (on the vlog here), but LET’S. TALK. ABOUT. LA – where instagrammable streets are full with people with big dreams and creative juices.
I really liked Beverly Hill, I’ve never been there before (yes, because I came from Korea, when I was 18, so I haven’t been to a lot of places in the US, despite of me being here for 10 years). It reminds me of Korea – lots of places to shop, a lot of well-dressed humans, and somewhat superficial. I dig it.
So, I dressed to impress. I’ve been looking forward to wearing this suit jacket for awhile. You may know, it’s from #chrisellexjoa collection. This suit jacket is empowering to me because growing up, I always heard that creatives don’t succeed. My mom was a typically tiger mom who wanted me to be a doctor or lawyer, which I became neither (whoops). The #chrisellexjoa collection shows that creatives can succeed. Look at Chriselle (my role model #drool)! Here’s this strong ass Korean woman who made it work, launched an amazing collection, around my age, just SLAYING it.
If I can tell a younger me, I would say, “Do it. Work 60+ hours for yourself so you don’t have to work 40 for someone else. You have what it takes and don’t let the haters bring you down.” I spent most of my 20s in politics (I don’t regret it). I became a deputy director for a dope ass organization and still felt like maybe this isn’t where I belong.
The important thing is that I realized it’s never too late. So, if you are like me and contemplating if you should take the leap to your creative side, my advice is – jump in, why not?
